Announcement on leadership at Safe Passage International
Our previous CEO Wanda Wyporska left Safe Passage International on 24th April 2025. We’re pleased to announce that Donna Covey has now been appointed as Interim CEO.
Donna is an experienced CEO who has had many leadership roles across a range of NGOs. She is passionate about human rights, particularly refugee and migration issues, having served as CEO of the Refugee Council and Interim CEO at Anti-Slavery International.
Our Board of Trustees said: “We thank Wanda for her service and wish her the very best for the future.
“Following this, we’re delighted to welcome Donna to Safe Passage International for a period of six months as we work to recruit a permanent CEO.
“We are confident that she brings the expertise and skills needed to lead the organisation at this time, and support the incredible work of our dedicated team here.
“The unaccompanied children and refugee families we work with, and our Young Leaders, remain at the heart of Safe Passage International. As ever, our mission is clear: reuniting families torn apart by war and persecution, and campaigning for safe routes for refugees.”
Donna said of joining the charity: “It’s a pleasure to join Safe Passage International for the next few months, and oversee the important and expert work being delivered with people seeking safety in Greece, France and the UK.
“I’m already enjoying working with all the teams, our Experts by Experience consultants, Board of Trustees and Senior Leadership to support the organisation into its next exciting and ambitious phase.”
