ANNA'S JOURNEY
Our legal teams in France, Greece, and the UK work tirelessly to help child refugees like Anna*, an 11-month-old little girl born in Greece during the pandemic, to reunite with their families through safe routes. Anna's young life took a distressing turn when her mother, Bella*, was denied asylum, leaving her without any financial resources. Bella was facing domestic violence, barriers to healthcare, and systemic racism, and, seeing her struggling, child protection services removed 11-month-old Anna from her.
Having been denied protection in Greece, Bella sought safety in France, completely heartbroken and devastated to leave her baby behind. Sadly, the French authorities also refused Bella’s application for protection. That’s where Safe Passage came in. Our legal team worked tirelessly to secure Bella and Anna's futures, until we finally received the long-awaited green light for little Anna to join her mother and new brother in France.
Anna and Bella are now finally reunited, rebuilding their lives in safety and enjoying time as a family again – exactly as it should be. Please take a moment to sign up to mailing list and support our work reuniting child refugees like Anna with their loved ones.
